MVA with Entrapment and Medevac

On Sunday May 25 Fuller Hose was dispatched to the intersection of Gulf and Kerr Rd for a reported MVA. Crescent Squad 217 arrived on scene reporting 1 truck into a tree on it's side with 1 patient heavily entrapped requesting Life Star to the scene. Engine 204 arrived and pulled a 1 3/4" attack line and started to assist EMS. Rescue 208 arrived and began extrication.  Engine 202 arrived on scene and established the Landing Zone for Life Star. Once the Extrication began it was determined that another set of rescue tools were going to be needed to assist in the extrication. Ripley Hose Co. arrived on scene with their Rescue and Engine and assisted with extrication. After a lengthy extrication the was complete and the Patient was transferred to Life Star to be transported to Hamot Shock Trauma.  All crews returned to service in about 2 hours.  Crescent L -12 had the extrication command and Fuller L-5 had the L.Z command. PSP Erie is investigating the accident.
