Engine and Tanker assist to Wattsburg for a Gas Tanker Fire
On Thursday June 12,2007 around 8 p.m. Fuller Hose was dispatched to assist Wattsburg with an Engine and a Tanker on Rt. 8 at Jones Rd. for a gas tanker roll over with fire. Engine 204 and Tanker 206 responded shortly after dispatch and could see the large column of smoke from the fire as the units were pulling out of the fire house. Once on scene the Engine crew was directed by command to man 2 hand lines to keep spot fires in check. Tanker 206 dropped their load of water into the Porta Tank in front of Kuhl Hose Engine 683. The Erie County Hazmat Team had already decided to let the fire burn out for environmental reasons. Once the Fire had burned down, command released Engine 204 and Tanker 206 back to service. Chief 680 had the Rt.8 command. Other Depts. on scene were Wattsburg, Kuhl Hose, Greenfield, Union City, Belle Valley and Emergycare Paramedics.
