The North East Fire Department was dispatched to the 7200 blk of Findley Lake Rd around 11:50 am on Sunday May 6, 2007 for a reported barn fire. Chief 200 went responding shortly after dispatch. While enroute the communications center advised chief 200 that the caller reported that he was burning some brush near the barn, and due to the moderate wind conditions it spread to the barn. Chief 200 and Chief 201 arrived on scene reporting a barn fully involved barn approx. 60’ x 60’ on the ground, asking for Tankers from Greenfield VFC, Fairfield VFD, and Ripley Hose Company to the scene. Engine 202 from Fuller Hose arrived on scene and put 2 – 1 3/4” attack line into service. Ladder 209 arrived next, sending their crew to the scene to assist with hooking and pulling some of the metal out of the fire. Fuller Engine 204 arrived next also putting 2 – 1 3/4” attack lines into service. Tanker 206 arrived dropping their portable tank next to 202. Engine 203 from Fuller Hose arrived, and went to the water supply about 1 mile away from the fire scene. A short time later command asked for the brush truck to respond to the scene due to a small brush fire that started across the road from the fire. Brush 216 arrived and extinguished the fire. After the main body of the fire was knocked down. Ladder 209 set up to assist in overhaul with the aerial waterway. A short time later the fire was under control. During the incident approx. 18,000 gallons of water where used. Fairfield Engine 263 transferred to Fuller Hose during the incident. On a side note this was the first chance for Fuller Hose to use their new Bullard T4 Max thermal imaging camera that was purchased thru a FEMA grant, even though it was a barn fire, it was a valuable tool for salvage and overhaul.
